What better then when the leaves fall and the autumn blues kick in, then to listen to this beautiful ep by Kikapu owner Brad Mitchell, aka Pocka, who seldom releases but when he does, offers exquisite and powerfull pieces of ambient / field recordings ( check his pleasedosomething and nishi releases ). A heartsick lovesong is just as the title implies ; carefully drawned pieces of sorrowfull and epic moments that either show the darker ravines of consciousness or the warmer, soothing side of...
We've reached another small milestone with our 75th release, a collection of random Pocka tracks that have been sitting on our hard drive for the better part of a year or more. These tracks were primarily produced during 2004 in the wilds of Vancouver, BC, though a few gems from 2003 sneaked their way into this release as well. How to sum up these tracks? Well, it really is quite random, everything from droning ambience to acoustic guitar pop to ragga mashups to a slew of remixes and... Topic: electronic
«'Wanderweg' is german for 'Hiking Trail' or 'Hiking Path'. Brad Mitchell recently lived and worked in Switzerland - before moving back to his Springfield, Missouri home, so it's no surprise that the lower Alps, the Black Forest and other typical surroundings inspired him with their nature magic. 'Wanderweg' is also the title of Brad's latest drone album, before putting his Kikapu netlabel to rest. This marvellous collection of guitar-based ambient drones sends us into deep nostalgia-mode... favoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 1 reviews ) Topics: IDM, Ambient
Brad Mitchell's new 3 track EP is a fine display of covertly tuneful ambient music. "Where The Deals Are Now" buries itself under fuzzy, sporadic outbursts; "Our Hell Is This Song" somehow avoids collapsing into a sea of distortion; "Moritzlaker" drifts between squealing feedback and pulsating hypnotism. Connecting dots & dashes. In his debut release, new artist Pocka has done something really nice here -- he's created an EP peppered with abstract bits but accented with all kinds of outright melody. The result, Chronology Brought, is something maybe reminiscent of .Tape. or Hans Appelqvist but takes familiar cues from IDM for rhythm and sound placement. Things get started with the massive, noisy three minute tsunami "Like Water In Water" -- and there couldn't be a more surprising... Topics: IDM, Microsound
"For the past few months I've been working on a series of recordings that are based from and intended for use w/ meditation. All sounds are created from simple sine wave generators and white noise, and layered on top of one another in certain cycles and slowly changing frequencies. My goal for these pieces is for each one to be about 30 minutes long, and it is slowly evolving into a series of recordings. And I figured I would like to share these pieces with others. . . and I instantly... favoritefavoritefavoritefavoritefavorite ( 1 reviews ) Topics: meditation, ambient, soundscape, minimal
